Situated along Interstates 80 and 74 in Illinois, HENRY COUNTY is at the transportation crossroads of the United States. The County is part of the Davenport-Moline-Rock Island Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) - locally called the Quad Cities. Henry County encompasses 823 square miles and is the 29th largest of the 102 counties in the State of Illinois. The area is fairly flat with elevations ranging from less than 650 feet above sea level in the northwest to 850 in the southeast portions of the County. Much of the land is used for agriculture with a total of 456,596 acres of farmland (86.7% of Henry County's land area).

Two Interstates cross the length and width of the county. Interstate 80 crosses the northern half of the county and Interstate 74 crosses the western half. Interstate 88 is accessed just outside the northwestern corner of the county and Interstate 280 links with Interstates 80 and 74 at their crossroads in the northwest corner of the county. 350-mile markets include Chicago, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Omaha and St. Louis.
Three rail lines exist in the county. The Iowa-Interstate Railroad traverses the northern portion of the county, from Colona through Annawan. The Burlington-Northern-Santa Fe Railroad traverses both the western portion of the county, coming from Rock Island through Orion and Alpha and a separate track lies on the southeast section of the county, through Galva and Kewanee. Kewanee has an Amtrak Station and is served by passenger service with two daily Quincy to Chicago/Chicago to Quincy routes.
There are two airports located in Kewanee and Geneseo. The Kewanee Municipal Airport in Kewanee has 4,500 ft. and 3,200 ft. runways. It is accessible via Federal Highway 34 and State Highway 78. The Gen-Air Park in Geneseo has a 2,568 ft. turf runway and is accessible from Interstate 80 by U.S. Route 6. In addition, the Quad City International Airport is within 10 miles from the northwest corner of the county and is served by U.S. Customs with a Port of Entry designation. Other international services include Customs Bonded Motor Carriers and the region also has a full-service large-capacity intermodal transfer facility.
Henry County is also within 30 miles of the Mississippi River, which is navigable 9 to 10 months of the year and has a 9-foot channel. Multiple grain terminals serve the river. In addition, the Illinois River is within 25 miles and a docking facility in Hennepin. - Industrial Sites
